What is Hearthkeeper?
A service that sets up a private family AI in your home and hardens your household's tech. You get the convenience of AI without handing your family's questions to a big company's cloud — and a harder-to-scam home network to run it on.
Who is it for?
Two kinds of Melbourne households. Privacy-minded families who want to own their technology outright (self-hosters, homeschoolers, Bitcoin-adjacent folks). And parents who want their kids to have a safe AI assistant without signing them up to another platform.
Is my data really private?
The AI runs on hardware in your home, on your network. Conversations don't go to a third-party cloud — that's the point. We document every protocol in plain language so you can see exactly what talks to what.
Does it need technical skills?
No. That's what we're for. If you can use a phone and a Wi-Fi router's app, you can use what we build. We write everything down in plain language, and we stay on for support.
Is it kid-safe?
The assistant has boundaries you set — topics, hours, and what it refuses. It answers questions honestly within them. As your kids get older, you change the boundaries, not the whole system.
Can it stop scams?
No — and anyone who promises that is selling something. We make your household harder to scam: screening on channels you choose, filters that block known-bad addresses, and a plan that makes recovery faster when something gets through.
What if my kid tries to bypass it?
A determined teen can defeat most technical controls — that's reality, and pretending otherwise would be lying to you. What we build instead: boundaries that are honest, logs you can review together, and a relationship where the rules are a conversation, not a spy tool.
Do you watch my family?
No. You hold the keys; we don't have remote access after handover unless you ask for help. Boundaries and alerts are yours to set — we configure, you decide.
What does it cost?
The discovery call is free. Pricing for setup and support comes later — we're validating the service with real households first. Scope is fixed before any work starts, so you'll always know what you're paying for.
Do I need to buy hardware?
Usually a small home server, yes. We recommend options at cost — no markup, no affiliate links. If you have hardware that's suitable already, we'll use it.
What if it breaks?
That's the recovery plan's whole job: what to do first, who to call, where the backups live. Support covers questions and changes, and once a year we check everything still does what it did on day one.
Can I do this myself?
Absolutely — most of it is documented somewhere online. If you enjoy tinkering, do it yourself and enjoy it. Most families don't want a second job; that's the gap we fill.
What areas do you serve?
Melbourne and surrounds. The setup visit is in person; everything after that works fine over a call.
Why 'Hearthkeeper'?
The hearth is the centre of the home. We keep the digital hearth — the warm centre where family life happens — safe and in your hands.
